Clear stays clear. The edges of a logo or a cut-out keep their colour as they shrink.

Opens with PNG output. Pad has a Clear option, and Sharp under Quality suits logos and line art.

A worked example

A 2048 × 2048 logo on a clear background, typed 512: two box halvings then Lanczos3 bring it to 512 × 512, premultiplied, so the anti-aliased edge stays the logo's colour. The receipt says alpha premultiplied; choose Sharp if the logo has thin text.

When another page here fits better

For a photo, resize JPG gives a far smaller file. For a set of widths for a website, resize images for a website writes them all and the HTML to use them.

What stays on your device

The PNG is resampled and written in a worker in this tab, and saved straight to your downloads.

A PNG of a photograph is large by nature. This page will not pretend otherwise; it prints the bytes before you save.

Questions people ask here

Why do other resizers give my logo a dark edge?

Because they average colour and transparency separately, so the invisible black of the transparent pixels bleeds into the edge. This page multiplies each colour by its opacity before resampling and divides afterwards, which is why the edge keeps its colour.

Can a PNG be made smaller in KB?

Fewer pixels make it smaller; PNG has no quality dial. If the file must be under a limit and the picture is a photo, JPG or WebP will get there much more easily.

Does it keep a transparent background?

Yes, as long as the output is PNG or WebP. JPG has no transparency; choosing it shows a warning and fills the clear areas with white.
